Rolex? Never! Tissot

My fascination with the world of watchmaking was not born yesterday. Since I was little, actually. Since my first show, given by my sponsor. A pretty little charms with Smurf center of the dial.

I have discovered the world of timepieces in recent years with my own crusade to find my ideal watch.
In self-taught, I got to know the functioning of mechanisms, decipher the mystery of the various components. And then, of course, he had to study a little history of watchmaking!

My new watch finally in hand, I did not stop there. Already I was thinking about the next! I wanted to go even higher this time!
So, what to choose? Omega? Longines? Tag Heuer?

Rolex?

Both say immediately, I did not particularly like Rolex. A watch that I represented a lot of negative stereotypes.
Obviously, I could well be wrong. Why not? After all, I learned very little about this famous big clock. So I made my debut

a crusade to learn more about this famous watch brand, and of course, on those who hold such a timepiece.

How?

one in my entourage has the famous "marks to the crown."
What then?

Via the Web, of course!

Internet has advantages. We met there, mostly that of the devotees. People who know why! Of documented! Yes fans, but conscious!
No?

Yes and no.

In fact, the forums of watch lovers, I am struck with the pertinacity of bourgeois amateurs, the sting in an illogical passion they could not explain. Why do we like Rolex? No response. By cons, if you you do not like is that you're an idiot. A fool. You know nothing.
More?
Ho yes!

I was accused of being a stupid colonized denying the success of others, often forced into the theory of francophone Quebec. It despised me. I even had personal attacks. Correct! All this because I dared to express my prejudices against the Crown.
And then I noticed something else. For fans of Rolex, unlike fans of Tag Heuer, IWC or porthole, there are only Rolex that is of interest. No other shows not even merit discussion.
Proof? Imagine a gentleman coming to fetch advice from members to buy his first nice watch. It offers a choice of five watches. It is especially stated his disinterest for Rolex.
This does not reject the "Roloboys" as they call themselves. Anytime someone comes to the Submariner clear he would choose, the brand's flagship model as stereotyped. The gentleman reminded again that does not.
The cycle continues again and again. They do not quit. For them it is Rolex. Period.

course there are some people who were friendly with me. I learned to love stories between some fans and the Crown. Someone mentioned - rightly - that Rolex was the first watch to be under water. The first with a date!
Ingenuity, patents and innovations!

Unfortunately, these fans are a minority.

A postulate?

Rolex fans are mostly very bourgeois and conservative. For these people, the quaint and clean look of the "brand to the crown" is synonymous with wealth, timelessness. Anyone daring not deify this watch is definitely an idiot, or at least, an unconscious that is best ignored.
There is also a large dose of blindness in all this. Indeed, they believe that virtually all Rolex enjoys a pristine image.
one does not associate Rolex, they say, gold and jewels. Ridiculous if the rich arrogant and complacent.
Ostentatious?
Even less!

So I'd be an exception.

The only perhaps in this world, not to like Rolex and its image "bling-bling" rowdy.
Well, I assume myself in this election.

There are many other timepieces, is not it?
